Journal: The Defiant pic is unique in that it is the only shot that actually features a photograph as a prominant feature of the background (all the others are rendered meshes). The image came from a NASA IMAX cell taken from the windows of the Atlantis. The nebula was then hand-drawn and placed in the scene using photoshop.
