From newspost@MUN.CA Wed Sep 4 13:18:33 2019 Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2019 13:18:28 -0230 From: Newsline To: NEWSLINE@cliffy.ucs.mun.ca Subject: Recent phishing attacks All faculty, staff and students are advised of a recent increase in phishing attacks. Caution should always be exercised when asked to provide your login credentials. An example of a recent phishing email is purportedly sent by Memorial’s IT Service Desk (help@mun.ca) stating your email account has reached the 90 per cent limit and to login to a suggested URL to request an increase to your mailbox storage. If you have clicked on the link and provided your credentials, please change your password immediately and contact the IT Service Desk at 864-4595, help@mun.caor chat support at http://www.mun.ca/its/support.php. Caution should always be exercised when clicking links, opening attachments or responding to emails requesting your credentials. Review the sender’s email address, inspect links, virus scan attachments prior to clicking and call the individual directly to confirm the legitimacy of the email, which is the best verification method. If in doubt at any point, contact the ITS Service Desk.
