Self-Defence – Introduction to Judo and participants can register at first class
A 4 week course for adults interested in learning basic self defence techniques. The course is on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 6:30 P.M. This course begins in mid September and is repeated again beginning in mid January. Dress: Be sure to wear a long sleeve shirt, track pants and no jewelry. Participants can register at first class. Cost to join is $30 for four classes. First class is Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6 PM.
This course is not designed to make anyone an expert in defending themselves, but rather it gives people techniques that can be used, as well as provides people with the familiarity of working with people in close quarters (both standing and on the ground). This also builds people’s self-confidence in themselves.
We teach in a relaxed environment, where we make you feel comfortable. Have a look at the January 2007 Self Defense Feedback to see what people thought of our classes.
For those who have been to class, our instructor informed you of documents available from our website. They can be found here (6.1MB). This documents do not explain any of the techniques, however they provide news stories and other articles about defending yourself.
Also for people who are interested, check out a neat concept called the Unbreakable Umbrella. It is made by the folks at Real Self-Defense. There are whole self-defense classes (not offered by us) devoted to teaching people how to defend themselves with an umbrella. A regular umbrella can be used, however it will probably break during the fight. Refer to the links below for more information.
