November 21, 2011
To all MUN Judoka and Parents;
The fall semester has been a busy time again this year. Our club recently hosted the Fall Provincial Judo Tournament and many of our members did very well. You can view the results at http://www.judonl.ca/docs/NLJAFall2011Results.pdf . Congratulations to all who participated in the tournament and clinic or volunteered to help make the tournament such a success!
Important news is that effective Wednesday, November 23 we are moving our dojo to a new space at Global Gym, 92 Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s between New Cove Road and Portugal Cove Road. This will be a dedicated space where we can set out our mats permanently and make a real home for our club. Access to the dojo will be through the entrance on Elizabeth Avenue and change rooms and showers will be available in the Global Gym facilities. It will be important for all club members to bring zori (sandals) to use if they need to leave the dojo to use the facilities within Global Gym. Club membership ID cards will be issued to all club members to use when accessing the Global Gym facilities.
Thanks to Shawn Pendergast we have a new club website at http://www.cs.mun.ca/~munjudo/ .
Here are important schedule notes for the remainder of this semester.
1. Grading for judoka ready to be promoted will take place in early December. Coaches will announce specific times.

Looking forward to the Spring there will be provincial tournament in Goose Bay Labrador in February and another provincial tournament in Gander in early May. The Atlantic Judo Championships will be in Moncton, N.B. in early March. In May we will be winding up the year the year again with a visit to Saint Pierre et Miquelon in late May.
We are now entering the winter season when weather can cause transportation problems. Our club policy on weather closures is that if the schools are closed then any judo classes for that day are cancelled as well.
