Our club is hosting a ne-waza (ground technique only) tournament in our dojo beginning at 10:15 AM for kids and 11:30 AM for teens & adults. U12 and U14 categories will be permitted to do standing techniques if coaches agree. All NLJA registered club members may participate (including white and white/yellow belts, age 6 and older) if their coach approves. Registration cost is $10. All participants under age 14 will receive a participation medal if they don’t place. Standard Judo Canada tournament rules and weight classes will apply. The registration fee will be paid on Saturday morning at the tournament
We encourage all club members to participate in the tournament as this is a great chance to do judo with people from other clubs around St. John’s!
If you wish to participate and haven’t already notified your coach you must do so by Wednesday May 6 at the latest. Your coach will need your name, weight, belt level, and year of birth. No walk-in registrations will be accepted so you must inform your coach by May 6 at the latest!
If you are participating you should be at the dojo a ½ hour before the scheduled start time (i.e. 9:45 am for kids, 11 am for teens and adults). The dojo has very little seating space so spectators and athletes will have to sit on part of the mats. No outdoor shoes are permitted past the entrance of the dojo so do bring warm socks and sandals.
If you have any questions about this tournament do contact your coaches or me.
