Star Trek

I am heavily involved with Star Trek as a major part of modern science fiction. I follow other SF series such as Babylon 5, Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars, to name a few. I have been following Star Trek for over twenty years, however, and that is where my main interest lies.

I have a variety of hobbies that are related to ST and they mainly include recording all of the episodes, collecting trading cards that are exclusively from SkyBox, as well as the odd purchase of fanzines, comics and some novels.

I do not discriminate with any of the series that are on -- I am equally interested in The Original Series (TOS), The Animated Series (TAS), The Next Generation (TNG), Deep Space 9 (DS9), and Voyager (VOY). I enjoy them all and cannot get enough of them!

Mind you, I do not live, eat and breathe Star Trek-- I do have a life, despite what my friends say! ;-) I watch them all and memorize a lot of trivia. One thing I hate but can pick out is Continuity Errors! They are things that Star Trek writers erroneously include but fans quickly nitpick them and say, "That should not be...," etc! If you are an avid follower, it becomes painfully easy to do it.

I also mentioned trading cards. I have been collecting them from SkyBox for over five years and I enjoy them for their creative designs, informative material, aesthetics, and special qualities -- i.e. holograms and SkyMotion (tm) which are cards that change shapes as you rotate them in the light. Perhaps one of the most valuable collections I have is the Hostess Potato Chips mini cards set that came out in 1993. That particular set is being sold for over $150 US. For a look at what I have, click here.

My main collection is my video library. I currently have every episode in TOS, TAS, and TNG, and I am up to date in DS9 and VOY. I have all the episodes recorded in order of airdate by season for the TOS and TAS, and in order of stardates by season for all others. So far, I have over 400 episodes recorded. I also have all of the motion pictures from TMP - GEN, and I have them all (except TUC) twice, once in letterboxed versions and again in P&S format. I also have a wide variety of clips and sitcoms, etc. I have about 95 VHS tapes solely dedicated to Trek.

As you can tell, I am dedicated and will always be interested. I take it seriously and and treat it like Trekology!
