Apr 21, 8:10 pm
If all goes well, I plan to be in my office next Monday and
Tuesday (April 24 and 25) -- would those who wish to
discuss or seek correction on assignment or exam marks
please see me *** before 1 pm on Tuesday, April 25 ***.
After that, I shall be making mark adjustments for missed
assignment and exams and then submitting your final
course marks.
Apr 15, 4:00 pm
I have today tested positive for Covid-19, and will not be attending
our final exam on Monday. This exam will be invigilated in my
place by Dr. Adrian Fiech, the head of our department; given his
time constraints, no extra time will be allowed and the exam will
be written 9-11am. As for people wanting to see me wrt mark
adjustments on the assignments and/or in-class exams, I will let
you all know soon when I wil be back in my office. For now,
best of luck with your respective CS 3600 and other final exams.
Apr 12, 11:10 am
Assignment #2 is now marked; any people who wish to talk to me
about their marks for Assignments #1 and/or 2 *** must do so
before noon on Friday, April 21 ***. Moreover, given the
disruptions we have experienced this semester, I have decided to
give everyone a mark of 100% for Assignment #3.
Mar 27, 1:00 pm
Due to a misccomunication between myself and the course marker,
feedback on question #1 on assignment #1 was (1) incomplete and
(2) asked students to contact the marker. The marker is in the
process of fixing (1) and (2) such that comments on lost marks
will be given and the request will be to contact the course
instructor, i.e., me, rather than the marker if issues remain.
Please be patient and come see me Thursday or later once the
marker adds said comments.
Mar 26, 10:10 am
I will be allowing students to select PASS/FAIL grading rather
than numeric grades in COMP 3600 this semester, as per MUN
Administration allowances made fter the faculty strike. Students
need only request this individually from me with an email.
However, it is the student's responsibility to both (1) be aware
of potential disadvantages of invoking PASS/FAIL grading
(see the following memo)
and (2) submit all such requests by the end of the last day of
classes on April 10.
Mar 14, 1:40 pm
The final exam will by on Monday, April 17, 9-11am (Room EN-2040).
Mar 1, 1:40 pm
The final exam will by on Monday, April 17, 9-11am (Room TBA).
Feb 14, 2:00 pm
I've now revised the course outline in light of us missing
two weeks of lectures. Changes are:
Assignment #1 is now due February 28.
Assignment #2 is now due March 23.
Assignment #3 is now due April 6.
In-class Exam #1 will now be held on March 2.
In-class Exam #2 will now be held on March 28.
Assignments #2 and 3 have been modified to eliminate
the computer programnming questions.
The last of these changes is to make the second and third
assignments easier and give you more time to study for the
in-class and final exams.

... And we're (almost) back! A tentative agreement has been
reached between MUNFA and the administration; the process of
ratification is proceeding on both sides, but for now, classes
start again on Wednesday. Please be prepared to attend our
lecture on Thursday, February 17 -- a revised course outline
will be posted soon (with revised assignment due dates and
in-class exam dates) as details firm up, so stay tuned. In the
meantime, I look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday.
Jan 30, 11:00 am
Well, it has happened -- MUNFA is on strike. Under the
terms of the strike, I will not be teaching or answering
student emails until after the strike is over. This also means
that there will be no assignment submissions or exams given
until then. When the strike is over, lectures will resume
and assignments and exams will be rescheduled. For now, stay
tuned for further details in this Notices section -- here's
to a quick resolution of the strike, and I hope to see you all
again in-person soon.
