Pole placement problems (G. Miminis)

Pole placement {PP} is a method used by control engineers to stabilize linear dynamic systems. In attacking the different forms that the PP may assume, our main objective has been to derive a numerically stable but also generic algorithm that will handle all the PP forms. We have been the first to accomplish this, and we have successfully applied it to several PP forms. Our algorithm is QZ-like and uses techniques like deflation, implicit shifts and double steps. In this project we intend to use our generic algorithm to solve the PP problem for descriptor systems with output feedback.
