Magic
Magic is most commonly associated with the Wicca religion. The magic found in the Wicca set of beliefs is often referred to as Witchcraft. Through out the Final Fantasy games, magic is found in many different ways, from casting spells to heal your allies, to casting spells to burn your foes, to even enchanting your allies with extra speed, strength, or flight, to even summoning monsters that were once thought to exist only in ancient times. Similarity, some Wicca magic is thought to have some healing properties, can be used for vengeance on those who have performed ill-mannered deeds, and able to communicate with the dead.
Interestingly enough, some people interested in the fantasy genre (including some fans of the Final Fantasy series), took an interest in the Wicca religion after playing through the games. Most people believe that the religion itself is quite harmful to youths, but most people with this mind set are conservative Christians, who often believe that, if it's not Christian, then it's not right.
Summons
Since the release of Final Fantasy 2/4j (the first game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System), the series has always featured either a character who could summon creatures, or give all of the characters the ability to do so.
These summonable creatures range, from mythic beasts (Leviathan, a water dragon; Titan, the generation before the Greek Olympian Gods; Fenrir, Norse God of Trickery) to folklore (Doom Train, a train that carried the souls of the dead; Knights of the Round, Sir Author's knights), to Gods and Goddesses (Shiva, from Hindu) to even stories and locations (Eden, the Eternal Garden where Adam and Eve were created and were taken care in by the Christian God, until thrown out, is the ultimate summon in Final Fantasy 8).
