- The marks for Assignment #5 have been e-mailed out. If you submitted
an assignment but did not receive a mark, then please let me know.
The marker also identified some instances where people are collaborating
a little too closely on this assignment. I don't mind you discussing
and talking about the assignments with each other, but please remember
that the programs that you submit should be your own.
- I have received copies of MUN's Course Evaluation Questionnaire (CEQ)
forms for you to fill out. I've decided to hand them out next Wednesday
(April 2). As a result, this class will only be about 1/2 hour long
to give you time to fill them out. (If you would prefer another day,
please let me know.) As the instructor is not permitted to administer
the evaluation, I will try to recruit a CS staff member to administer the
evaluation.

- March 21, 2003
- Assignment #7 is now available.
- The deadline for Assignment #6 has been extended to this Sunday night.
- March 19, 2003
- The deadline for Assignment #6 has been extended until this Friday.
- Even though there are only three weeks left in the semester, I'm
still going to try to squeeze in three perl assignments:
- If three perl assignments are given, then when computing the
assignment mark for the term, the best eight of the nine assignments
will be used (the lowest mark of all the assignments will be dropped).
- If I'm only able to give out two perl assignments, then all eight
assignments will be used to compute the final assignment mark for the
term (no assignment mark will be dropped).
If you have any problems or questions about this arrangement or if
you disagree with it, please let me know.
- March 16, 2003
- Added another clarification to the bottom
Assignment #6. This clarification corrects
an error in the total portfolio value.
- March 14, 2003
- Today's class has been cancelled due to weather.
- Added a small clarification at the bottom of
Assignment #6.
- March 13, 2003
- March 11, 2003
- The marks for Assignment #4 have been e-mailed out. If you submitted
an assignment but did not receive a mark, then please let me know.
- March 10, 2003
- Many students have had midterms to write and assignments due recently
in other courses, so I decided to grant an extension for Assignment #5.
It will be due Wednesday, March 12 at 23:59. A solution to Assignment
#5 and Assignment #6 (C++) will be available shortly thereafter.
-
With respect to the upcoming perl assignments, time is getting a little
tight to give three separate weekly assignments. Therefore, we may
have one long perl assignment worth 30 marks (giving us a total of
7 assignments with the perl assignment given twice as much weighting
as each of the other assignments), or we could have two shorter perl
assignments each worth 15 marks each (giving us a total of 8 assignments).
Finally, we could still try to squeeze in three assignments also worth 15
marks each (giving us a total of 9 assignments, as originally planned).
If you have a preference, please let me know. (I am currently leaning
towards having two perl assignments of moderate length.)
