The Preferences menu under the Options menu is also
another important feature.
Under the Preferences menu, the user can go into the Style
menu.
The Show Toolbar as allows the user to change the Toolbar
setup, to their preference.
The Start With option allows the user start up Netscape with a
particular page automatically loaded or a blank page is automatically
loaded up on the startup of Netscape.
The user can even change how long followed links will last by using the
Followed Links and changing the expire date on the links.
Under the Preferences menu, there is something called Helper
Applications . The Helper Applications menu allows the user
to configure programs to be used with Netscape. When a filetype
is highlighted, the Action box is important. Here you can
configure Netscape so that all files with the extension that you have
chosen, will be always handled in the same way. The Use Browser as
Viewer option allows the user to use Netscape as the browser or
viewer. This is mainly used for looking at images. The Save
option allows the user to always save the particular file type that they
choose instead of viewing it on the srceen. The Unknown: Prompt User
option allows the user to have a menu appear (see image below). The
Launch
Application option allows the user to configure a particular program
to use with every file of a particular file type.
