Teacher's Guide to WWW Projects

Here are some projects that could be incorporated into you lectures or as an exercise for you can your students:

Have a student retreive a picture of an animal from ZooNet's Picture Archive and then write a report on that animal. This would be suitable for elementary school children.

A project on the countries of the world. Have a student pick a country in the world and then use CIA's World Factbook to help research it.

Using only the Educational Sites Page , have the student write a report, in some cases pictures can be incorporated into the document, on a topic taught in your class. This would be suitable for any age and useful for any subject.

Have your students try and find a penpal on the Internet. Some places to find penpals are

For elementary school kids, For Kids Only! is an excellent site with links for them to explore.

Another idea might be using Alex which is a catalog of electronic texts on the internet. A student could search for a poem, for example, and write a report on that poem. Alex has hundreds of online text files to read. Some of the categories include classics, computers, reference, history, poems, and science.

For high school biology, An Interactive Frog Dissection may be useful. This site has detailed pictures of the dissection of the frog, as well as some movies on certain procedures. Also The Virtual Frog Dissection Kit is also another site about frog dissection.

Another project could be for a student to create their own Webpage. Here are some helpful guides and software for writing a Web document:
