GoldWave Basics

This is the GoldWave menu and toolbar. There is usually help on every screen, so if you need extra help with something, just look for The Help button.

This is the Device Controls menu. This allows the user to play, record, rewind, fast forward, or change the setup of the sound file. The Vol button allows the user to change the volume of the current sound file, the Bal button changes the balance between the two speakers, and the Spd button changes the speed of the current soudn file by either speeding it up or slowing it down.

To start a new file, select File , then New . Now the New Wave menu should appear. From this menu, you can change the number of Bits , The Channels , the Sampling Rate or the Time of the sound file. For now, just use the default settings. Press the OK button, and now you are ready to start making a sound file. Now a window like the one below should appear.

Now you can use the Record button on the Device Controls to create a new sound file. When you finish recording your sound file, you can then play it back using the Play button on the Device Controls menu.
