Signal Hill/Cabot Tower South(Fort Amherst)
On top of Singal Hill, lies Cabot Tower. This tower was built in 1897 to
commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's discovery of Newfoundland and to celebrate Queen Victoria's 60th year of reign. In 1901, on Signal Hill, Guglielmo Marconi recieved the
first trans-atlantic wireless signal. Eight, or so, times a week, the St.
John's Tattoo reenacts a battle between the English and the French for St.
John's. The video
